PAPA SEZ (formerly The All-stars) – a Philly area based blues band founded over 35 years ago with members Rick Valenti, Fred Berman, Jay Davidson, John Gilson and Rick Prince. They've been laying down authentic Chicago blues with a big fat Philly swagger since the 80’s. The members have lent their talents to live shows and recordings from Taj Mahal, Whitney Houston, Amos Lee, The Funk Brothers, Bon Jovi, Steve Winwood, Cinderella and countless others from all genres of music. But Papa Sez has always called them home again.
Now, with a new recording of timeless postwar jump blues jams, Papa Sez is ready to make crowds dance worldwide. Produced by Grammy award winner Aaron Levinson, the band recorded 10 little know jump blues songs from the 50’s and 60’s. In keeping with the sound and spirit of the source material, the rhythm tracks were cut live with minimal overdubs, retaining that postwar feel. The result is a great selection of classic tunes, performed by seasoned players that have roots in the blues, and have come together to bring their personal musical experiences back into the music.
